Éide is Irish for uniform.
The idea for Éide came from looking for a vintage work jacket while living in Paris. I loved those jackets, but I could never find one that fitted the way I wanted. Most had been worked in until they were worn out. The ones in good condition always seemed to be the odd sizes.
We spent three years developing the first jacket, working with a pattern maker who had previously worked at Burberry. I wanted to keep the character of the vintage jackets I loved, with the fit and finish I'd struggled to find.
Making locally was part of the ambition from the beginning. Belfast has a storied history with textiles, and we wanted to build on that connection as Éide grew. Our Gardening Jacket is cut and sewn in the UK from cotton canvas.
The success of our first jacket has helped us bring production closer to home. We want to put that success towards the people and craftsmanship behind the next, and remain committed to local production, fair wages and ethically sourced materials.
